From Russia to Costa Rica we flew with a transfer in the Dominican Republic, and decided not to miss the opportunity to rest in this country for several days.
The plane landed at Punta Cana airport, which resembled a huge bungalow
under the thatched roof. The air was hot and humid, like in a bath. Smiling airport workers collected from each guest $ 10 for entry into the country.
We took a taxi to the hotel in the Bavaro area, settled in and immediately went to the ocean.
Only then did we realize that we had overcome most of the way to Costa Rica, were glad
and returned to the room to take a break from the many hours flight. And the next morning
already swam in the ocean. The beach there is incredibly beautiful, with pleasant white sand, the waves are calm, soft. We sunbathed, bathed, explored local shops, ate delicious fruit. Punta Cana is truly a paradise! And the people there are funny and cheerful.
But the plane to Costa Rica flew out of the capital of the Dominican Republic, and two days later
we arrived in Santo Domingo on a comfortable intercity bus.
This city was completely different: on the houses of the lattice, rows of barbed wire, the hotel’s guard and three iron doors, on the streets dirty, very noisy because of the multitude of cars
there are practically no tourists. By the way, the sea was near, but there are no beaches, because the coast is rocky and steep. They say it’s dangerous to approach him – robbers can attack.
With the onset of darkness, the embankment becomes a real brothel. That’s why we
almost did not go anywhere except the shops.
I got the impression that the Dominican Republic is a rather contrasting country. But the locals there are everywhere cheerful and always ready to help.
Two days later we went to the airport of Las Americas – a beautiful modern building, and safely flew to Costa Rica.
